Transferable Skills

Graduated from Staffordshire University with a BSc Honours 2:2 in Internet Technology. My full time study at the univeristy's Stafford campus includes one years study in Computer Science, followed by two years study in Internet Technology and a work placement at Intier Automotive Interiors (Magna Group).

My work placement has been a priceless experience and I believe I have become a strong person and have dramatically imporved my communication skills. On top of this, I am now more than capable of working on my own initiative or in a group and to an ISO 9001 standard.

I initially developed web sites and have a portfolio of designs; Redditch Shotblasting, Nick Wilkes, Lost Generations.
However, since employment at Sorion, I have swayed more towards Venom-SC and Visual Basic.

Employment

Sorion Electronics Ltd;

Junior Software Engineer,

Whilst working at Intier, regular liaison with Sorion turned out to be very beneficial to me as Phill Yates (Sorion MD) acknowledged my enthusiasm and self motivation and upon completing my degree agreed to give me an interview, from which they offered me a Junior Software Engineers position.
Working to ISO 9001, I develop software applications typically in Venom-SC and Visual Basic for electrical test equipment in the automotive industry. From microprocessors on embedded systems to just in time production facilities, I assist in the development from the specification right through to the customer handover and beyond. I am gaining vast amounts of knowledge and am really enjoying this field of work.

Intier Automotive Interiors;

R56 Electrical Test Development Engineer,

The 12 month placement entailed working alongside BMW teams and Sorion Electronics to develop an electrical test facility for the new BMW Mini 2 cockpit assembly line at Intier, Redditch. The 'just in time' system was expected to give an output of upto 60 cockpits an hour. The project gave an invaluable experience into electronics, Controller Area Networks (CAN), Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST), ECU flashing and project management. The scale of the project ran into hundreds of millions of pounds which meant following stringent methods and attending regular meetings with customers and suppliers.
